Tapper

Acquired April 2003.
Restoration completed July 2003.
Sold December 2004.

Took a chance on this one. The game was converted to a "Skins Game", and I was hoping that the artwork below the thick speckle paint was preserved, to my delight it was near perfect. It was a definite challenge to do this one, and I feel really good about the way this came out. A real lot of time and effort (not to mention $$$) was put into restoring this classic.

The front panel as you can see was burnt, looks like someone tried to take the speckle paint off with a heat gun... In the process they burned the underlying artwork. I removed the front panel and stripped off the paint, scanned it into my computer and repaired the front panel digitally. Came out fairly well, although I would replace the entire panel with an original should one in nice shape ever come my way.

The stripping process begins...So far so good. Used 3M safest stripper en masse, and goof-off for stubborn paint.
Left side looking great! Right side worked out to be just as well preserved. (not pictured here)
